Victory by the Blood!

Too often we forget what a sacrifice Jesus made for us. We don’t realize, or remember the price he paid to set us free. We don’t always remember (maybe some of you don’t even know) that the blood of Jesus has not only set us free from sin, but it has given us peace, hope, life, health, prosperity and every thing we need to succeed in life.

He took our place to give us His. The wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23)…We sin, Jesus never did, yet He is the one who died. He took our punishment. A sinless, perfect Man who is God in the flesh, took my place! And He gave me His place which is at the right hand of the Father God (Acts 2:33).

I can see my Lord and Savior being beaten, mocked and ripped apart. I can see His flesh hanging off His body, the pain He endured. And then I realize that at any moment He could have walked away. He didn’t have to endue all of that. While in the garden praying, He could have said, “no”. He could have chosen to not go through with it. When He was being questioned for hours and being accused of many things He was innocent of, He could have walked away and gone back to His place in Heaven. When the centurion took his first swing with the cat-of-nine-tails, Jesus could have said, “enough!” But He didn’t! He chose to be questioned, mocked, beaten and He chose to die. He never said, “no”. He never said, “This is not worth it”. He never said, “enough”. Instead, while hanging on the cross by the nails in His hands, He said, “It is finished”.

Finished. That word means (in the Greek) “to be complete, fulfill and to pay”. That’s what had to be done for us to live free from sin and to be able to have relationship with God. The Law of God had to be completed or fulfilled by a man to get back what Adam had lost mankind in the Garden of Eden. A price had to be paid for Adam’s disobedience.

Victory by the Blood

Jesus paid it all. He did everything we needed to do, but could never do. He came to us so that we could choose Him and life. We don’t have to struggle to earn God’s love. His love was demonstrated to us by Jesus on the cross. He died to complete the work, so we don’t have to work for His love and peace. He rose from the  dead to justify us!
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.” -Romans 5:8-11

Jesus died for us, and now He lives through us!
