Marriage Equality – A Reflection Of The People’s Hearts

I am not at all shocked by the Supreme Court’s ruling to legalize same-sex marriage in all 50 states. In fact, I would have been shocked had it ruled against it. Because the truth is, that is what is in the hearts of the American people at large.

I could write about my thoughts on the ruling and the state the country is currently in. Believe me, I have thoughts on it. Several in fact. However, I decided to encourage my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ to see this as an opportunity to change the world. We are the light are the world! We can change not only America, but we can change the world! We are light and we are love in a dark and hurting world. You can bring light into the dark places and show love to all the broken lives.

I am not condoning the decision, nor the gay lifestyle. Homosexuality is not a natural thing, it is a choice. God created man and woman, not two men or two women. Had God intended for people to marry each other regardless of their sex, He would have created men to reproduce with other men, women with other women, etc. However, God created man and woman. You need one of each to reproduce which is one purpose God gave mankind (Genesis 1:27-18). God would also not create people to have a natural desire that He calls unnatural (Romans 1:26-28) and includes it with other unrighteous acts of lust and sin (I Corinthians 6:9-11). The Church needs to understand this. The Church also needs to understand that we are to love people, but hate sin just as God does. We do not condone a gay lifestyle, but we love those caught in a life of homosexuality. Contrary to popular belief, you do not have to accept and agree with something in order to love others. If your child gets into drugs, do you hate them? No, you hate the act or lifestyle they are choosing to live, but you love the child. It’s the same with homosexuality. Homosexuality is an action/choice, not a being. It is no different than any other sexual sin. Any sexual relations are meant to be between one man and one woman in the context of marriage.
_The Body of Christ needs to keep God'sThe world can change the definition of marriage, however, we as the Body of Christ needs to keep God’s definitions. Church, we need to know these things in order to minister to a broken world. If you just go along with what the world says, you’re no different than the world. We are not supposed to conform to the world, but be transformed by the renewing of our minds (Romans 12:2). If your mind is not renewed to the things of God, then you cannot discern what good, acceptable and perfect in God’s eyes according to that scripture. However, if you can’t have compassion and show love, then you’re not doing any good. Jesus ministered love and compassion; not judgment and hatred. However, Jesus did not just jump on the bandwagon and go along with what was popular. He certainly made known right from wrong, but He still ministered love. You can disagree without hating. Shine your light and show love!

This ruling shows what is in the hearts of people. We can have thousands of the best politicians who will uphold all Godly and Biblical morals, but they will never be elected because people elect politicians. Elected politicians reflect what is in the hearts of the people. So, if we want to see a shift in the policies and politics of this country, or even in the world, then we need to shift our focus. We need to turn our focus from politics and governments to the hearts of the people in this world. We will never see a change in the world until hearts are changed.

So, was I shocked, no; disappointed, yes. I can’t change the ruling, or do much about the politics in this country, but what I can do is help change the hearts of the American people. And I intend to do just that.

Aquage Uplifting Foam

I was just reintroduced to Aquage Uplifting Foam. I first heard about it a couple of years ago from a co-worker, then what really sealed the deal was when I hear Kate from The Small Things Blog rave about it. Yeah, she has the best hair I’ve ever seen, so I’ll pretty much try anything she raves about. Not only do I love Aquage Uplifting Form, but it’s seriously a miracle in a can. I have super straight, long, fine, flat (and I mean flat) hair. There is absolutely no volume going on, on my head. That was until Aquage Uplifting Foam entered my life. I quit using it for a while because I got really lazy with my hair. I just didn’t want to wake up earlier enough to make it look really nice. This was largely, if not solely due to the fact that my job moved an hour away from my house, so I had a very long commute. And when you have to leave your house by 6am, the last thing you (or maybe it’s just me) want to do is get up even earlier just to do your hair. However, I now have a shorter commute and dislike my boring hair enough to put some effort into it.

I’ve tried countless volumizing hair products and sometimes it’s given me some lift and hold for an hour or two, but that’s not satisfying. I hate spending time on my hair with nothing to show for it. And let’s face it, there’s no such thing as a “roll out of bed with gorgeous hair” haircut. These hairstyles take some time and effort. Aquage on the other hand is a.m.a.z.i.n.g. You just spray some on at your roots, rub it in, blow dry your hair (I blow dry my hair upside down) and just like that… you have beautiful voluminous hair 🙂

AfterIMG_7109This was actually at the end of a 10 hour day, so you can see it holds up.

And if this isn’t enough volume for you, you can tease your hair a bit. The Aquage really helps hold the teasing. Here I just teased the back and sides a little bit, not too much (see below).

I Can Do All Things

I can doWhen Christ is your strength, you can do ALL things. The Bible doesn’t say we can do some things, a few things, or even most things; it says that we can do ALL things. Wow! That’s exciting and empowering, isn’t it?

I struggle sometimes with trying to be strong enough on my own. I try to take care of things in my own strength, but end up getting frustrated and discouraged. And it’s understandable because we were not created to be strong enough on our own. We were created to be dependent on God’s strength.

‘“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.”’ John 15:4-5

We can do nothing without Him, but we can do all things with Him.

Aren’t you glad that we don’t have to be strong enough, but can just rest in knowing He is strong enough to do it in us and through us?
